Whatever your view on politics, there is no doubt that your ability to think critically is enhanced by forming a political philosophy or position and being forced to defend it, against those who may not agree with you.

It is my opinion that someone who abstains from political thought, is doing so not out of disenchantment with the political process, but because of intellectual laziness and lack of ability to influence others to consider one’s position.

I owe my ability to influence and lead others to my experience in politics as a volunteer, advocate and voter. Your ability to have someone understand and even accept your point of view is the ultimate skill of influence, because influence is marketing.
